Rena Elliott - Optometrist

Rena received her optometry degree from Dublin Institute of Technology in 1986, and was awarded the Harte Barry Award for achieving first place in her final exams. She was also awarded a Gold Medal from the Association of Optometrists. Rena worked with Wigmore Opticians in Baggott Street before setting up Elliott Opticians in Athlone in 1988. In her three decades practicing as an optician, Rena has examined thousands of eyes and is dedicated to giving you the benefit of her expertise.

Rena has a passion for children and has kept up to date with different options available for best results. Having completed 3 courses with the Brien Holden Institute she invested in equipment and is now offering Myopia Management strategies for all her younger clients.

OCT scanning has become an integral part of practice and reading these scans is critical. Rena has undertaken numerous courses to ensure scans are read accurately.

Dry eyes are becoming a big issue for a lot of us and Rena has under taken numerous courses in this area.

Mark joined the Elliott Opticians team just over a year ago. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from Technological Institute Dublin. He enjoys keeping up to date with all the latest advances in optics and has a keen interest in glaucoma and cataract management.

Sandra Grady-

Lab Technician/ Frame Stylist

Sandra has been with Elliot Opticians since 1997 and always enjoys the arrival of new frames and presenting the most up to date fashion to customers. Sandra also makes up the glasses and is excellent with all those tricky repairs.

Murryn is the newest member of the team. She has previously worked in the busy hospitality industry and enjoys helping patients with enquiries and frame choices. She has a keen interest in fashion and really enjoys assisting customers.

John Elliott - Dispensing Optician

Having received his training in London, John qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1993. The optics field is constantly changing and John enjoys keeping up to date with the latest in lens technologies, to ensure you get the best possible lens design for your prescription. With almost 25 years experience in the field, you know you are in safe hands.

Deborah Royal - Dispensing Optician

Deborah joined Elliott Opticians eight years ago and during that time completed her training for a degree to qualify her as a Dispensing Optician. Deborah ensures that each patient leaves the practice with glasses they love. 

Marie-Louise Clogher- Optical Assistant

Marie-Louise has over 8 years experience in optics. She is a real people person and just loves picking out new stylish frames for our customers and keeping up to date with the latest trends.

Sharon Ward- Administration

Originally joining Elliott Opticians as a receptionist, Sharon has been here since the beginning. She now works part time behind the scenes, taking care of the optical benefits and administration.
