Problems Associated with higher levels of Myopia
With Myopia the Retina (the light sensitive layer at the back of the eye) is stretched which increases the risk of some abnormal conditions. Shortsighted people of -4.50 are 10 times more likely to have Macular degeneration and Retinal Detachments in later life (over 40). They are also 3 times more likely to suffer from Glaucoma and Cataracts. The ability to drive, read or work on a screen can be affected by these conditions.
